چکیده
Aim. To determine the threshold value of Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) viral load (VL) in blood leukocytes to improve laboratory diagnostics infectious mononucleosis children. Materials and methods. EBV DNA quantification children aged 1-17 years (n=163) was determined by real-time polymerase chain reaction. VL were compared groups (n=67), non-EBV (n=25) healthy donors (n=25). Threshold based on data from with active latent infection. The R program RStudio environment used for satistic analysis. Results. is found not associated carriers, however these significantly lower than patients (p<0.001). – 41 copies/10 5 cells (or 1.6 lg DNA/10 cells), which characterized acceptable values specificity sensitivity (0.90 0.85, respectively) diagnostics. High (equal or above set threshold) an 8.5-fold increased risk detecting infection who have a low (below (RR 8.5; 95% CI: 3.7–19.7, p<0.001). Conclusion. In general, results obtained create prerequisites more intensive implementation quantitative studies leukocytes, both context improving early diagnosis its etiological interpretation, terms detailing features course

Lymphoma infectious mononucleosis by Epstein-Barr virus: A case report
Background: Epstein-Bar virus (EBV) causes infectious mononucleosis in more than 90% of children. Rarely, mononucleosis may lead to malignancy. The aim the current study was to introduce a child with mononucleosis and persistent adenopathy. Case report: A 4-year-old male patient presented with complaints of fever, shortness of breath and sore throat. He was treated with antibiotics and prednis...

Infectious mononucleosis should be suspected in patients 10 to 30 years of age who present with sore throat and significant fatigue, palatal petechiae, posterior cervical or auricular adenopathy, marked adenopathy, or inguinal adenopathy. An atypical lymphocytosis of at least 20 percent or atypical lymphocytosis of at least 10 percent plus lymphocytosis of at least 50 percent strongly supports ...

Received for publication: 8-12-10 Accepted for publication: 8-12-10 Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) is an ubiquitous human herpes virus that has been identified as the etiologic agent of infectious mononucleosis, a self-limited lymphoproliferative disease and, in general, is self-limiting in the immunocompetent host. The disease has a benign course. EBV has also been identified or associated with epit...
